How much does Divorce cost?

As with time, the total cost of a divorce depends on whether you and your spouse can agree.  For an uncontested divorce, the filing fee with the court is $215 and our legal fee is usually a flat $1,000.  The only reason our legal fee would be higher than $1,000 in an uncontested divorce is if you need assistance with significant negotiations regarding the separation agreement.

For a contested divorce, the initial filing fee is $220, but then there can be additional costs for service of process, subpoenas, depositions, trial preparation, and expert witnesses.  Our legal fee is billed at an hourly rate for the time we spend on your case and we require an initial retainer which is determined based on the specific facts and circumstances of your case.
